The Time &
Energy Audit

Protect Your Hours. Protect Your Energy.

You can't scale on empty. This isn't about doing more — it's about protecting the time and energy that fuels your best work. Block your CEO Hour, find where your energy is actually going, and set the one boundary you've been avoiding.

Before You Start
20–30 minutes — this pairs with today's Application & Reflection time, but works anytime
Your calendar handy — you'll be blocking real time in Step 1

Step 1 of 6 — Your CEO Hour

Your most important business activity.

Not a luxury, not something you earn after everything else is done. This is where you step out of the weeds and into the driver's seat — where the growth actually happens.

First 10 min
Review
Look at your goals for the week and the quarter. What's on track, what's behind?
Next 30 min
Deep Work
Your ONE high-priority task — the thing that moves the needle most. Uninterrupted.
Next 15 min
Plan
What needs to happen today to keep momentum? What can you delegate or let wait?
Last 5 min
Reset
Clear your desk, clear your tabs. Transition into the rest of your day on purpose.
Coaching question: when during your day are you at your sharpest — your most creative, your most focused? That's when your CEO Hour belongs. Not the leftover slot. The prime one.
My CEO Hour time slot
Which days will you protect it?
Start with 3 days if daily feels impossible right now — just commit to those like your business depends on it.
Step 2 of 6 — The Energy Audit

Where is your energy actually going?

A perfectly time-blocked calendar doesn't matter if the things filling those blocks are draining the life out of you. Picture your actual week — not your ideal one — and sort it into three lights.

Green Light — energizes you
You're in your zone. Time flies. Creative, alive work — often the actual work you do with clients, content, strategy.
Yellow Light — neutral
Doesn't drain you, doesn't light you up. It just needs to happen — email, basic admin, calendar upkeep.
Red Light — drains you
You procrastinate. It zaps motivation and leaves you frustrated or resentful — bookkeeping, a certain client communication, something you've outgrown.
What's stealing the most energy from my week right now?
Green Light tasks
Yellow Light tasks
Red Light tasks
Step 3 of 6 — Your Red-Light Action

Circle the one that drains you most.

Your job as CEO is to spend as much time as possible in your green zone. The red-light stuff is what delegation, automation, and elimination are for.

The one Red-Light task that drains you the most
Which one applies?
Delegate
Automate
Eliminate
What's the next step? (optional)
Step 4 of 6 — Boundaries as Strategy

Every yes to the wrong thing is a no to the right one.

Boundaries aren't a personal-development nicety — they're one of the most powerful tools you have to protect your time, energy, and profitability.

Client
Scope & Office Hours
Set hours, a clear scope, and a line on "one more thing" — or you're training clients to expect more than they paid for.
Schedule
White Space
Protected time off, days with no calls. Without white space, your calendar leads you instead of the other way around.
Digital
Notifications
Every ping costs ~23 minutes to fully refocus. Five pings in a work block means you're recovering, not working.
Personal
Communicated Expectations
Do the people around you know when you're working? Resentment builds when it's assumed, not said.
What boundary do I know I need to set, but I've been avoiding?
Step 5 of 6 — Set One Boundary

Not a wish. A decision.

"I'll set better boundaries" isn't a boundary. Get specific — what it is, who it's with, when it starts, and how you'll communicate it.

What the boundary is
Who it's with
When it starts
How you'll communicate it (if it involves someone else)
Step 6 of 6 — This Week's Commitment

Protecting your energy isn't selfish. It's the most CEO thing you can do.

The Boundary You're Protecting
This week, I'm protecting my energy by holding the boundary above — starting on the date I set, communicated the way I described.
Don't stop at writing it down. Share it in chat today, and post it in the Society for accountability — that's what turns a decision into a habit.
