It started, like many great business stories, with a little frustration, a few Zoom calls, and a whole lot of “Wait... you feel that way too?”
We’re thrilled to be launching the OBM Unscripted Podcast this week—a show built by and for online business managers, virtual assistants, and the behind-the-scenes pros who make the digital world go 'round.
But before we talk about what’s coming, let’s rewind and share how OBM Unscripted even became a thing.
We—Christy (that’s me!), Layna, and Muneeba—met during an online program. On paper, it had everything we were looking for: strategy, structure, and the promise of connection.
In reality? While a nice program, it didn’t quite tick all the boxes.
For me (Christy), I was looking for support as I transitioned from the in-person business space into the online world. And let me tell you—there are some real nuances to making that shift. It’s not just swapping offices for Zoom calls; it’s a mindset change, a marketing adjustment, and a whole new way of showing up professionally.
Sure, the program gave us the basics. But what we really needed was community—those side conversations where someone says, “Oh, you’re dealing with that too?” and suddenly, you're not alone anymore.
So we did what resourceful OBMs do: we built what we were missing.
Building OBM Unscripted: The Real-Deal Community for Online Pros
What started as check-ins and virtual pep talks quickly turned into something bigger. We realized we weren’t the only ones feeling like we needed more—more support, more real talk, more ways to connect and collaborate.
We also wanted to create a space for like-minded OBMs and VAs to gather—a community where you could not only lean on each other, but also better serve your clients. Imagine being able to tell a client, “I don’t do that type of work, but I know someone amazing who does. Let me make a call for you.” That’s the kind of trust, collaboration, and connection we wanted to build.
